How we check your passport
Every rule is based on official GOV.UK foreign travel advice and destination border rules.

How results are calculated
We compare your passport dates with each rule: whole-trip validity, the EU 10-year issue rule, destination buffers (3 months after leaving, 150 days, 6 months, or duration of stay) and blank pages. Results within 30 days of a limit are marked amber.
Countries without specific rules
Where we don't hold a specific rule, we apply a cautious 6-months-from-arrival guideline.
Reviews
Rules are reviewed regularly and whenever FCDO advice changes.
This tool gives guidance based on published FCDO entry requirements. Rules can change at short notice. Always check the official GOV.UK foreign travel advice before you travel.
